Entomologists (a person who studies insects) indicate that there are more than 1,000,000 different known species of insects in the world, with about 7,000 new species being discover each year. Their expectation is that there may be as many as 10 million undiscovered insect species. We’re not going to name them all as tattoo concepts, but we have identified a select few that work very well as tattoos. Further, the inspiring designs below have all been completed by our Blackwork specialists, Erik (view bio) and Eduardo (view bio) which provides confidence that you (Vancouver resident or visitor) have come to the right place
Insect Tattoo Ideas and Why Choose Sleight of Hand to Get in Done in Vancouver BC
Insect Tattoo Concepts to Inspire Your Own
Spiders
Realism spiders are eye-catching and make a statement. Black widow spiders are especially impactful and popular with the vixens out there in the Greater Vancouver area. The great news for anyone inspired by this concept, and located in the region, is that Sleight of Hand has the best spider and black widow tattoo artist in the city.
Butterflies
If spiders aren’t your cup of tea, butterflies may be more up your alley. They symbolize beauty, growth, and the freedom found when flying from one’s cocoon (whatever it may be). We have already covered the topic of where to get a butterfly tattoo which you can check out right here.
Beetles
Here’s an example of one completed by SOH Tattoo’s blackwork specialist Erik (view bio).
Bees
Like a lot of people, bees are misunderstood as being something to be wary of when in reality they represent life, growth, and virility (they are pollinators, after all). This concept works for those who feel that their value is not appreciated by those around them, et cetera.
Moths
Realism or with the skull integrated into the design? Why is the moth with a skull such a common them among insect tattoo ideas? The concept was born from a real moth, known as the death’s-head hawk-moth, which is a large moth with a skull-like marking on its thorax that has the ability to squeak when alarmed. These traits have made it an omen of death, but in a less dire sense it can symbolize mortality which can mean that life is short and that its wearer intends to live life to the fullest.
Scorpions
Scorpions are fierce and look damn cool. This insect design idea is particularly logical if your zodiac sign is Scorpio (born from around October 24 to about November 21).
As indicated above, Blackwork and Black-and-Grey styles work best for insect tattoos and SOH Tattoo has two of the top artists in the genre in the BC Lower Mainland. Schedule a FREE consultation via one of the contacts provided below.
